Cardiff South Public School Preschool has been providing quality educational programs for children in the year before school for many years, and is well established in our community. Our Preschool is located on the grounds of Cardiff South Public School and operated by the Department of Education. We are an integral part of the school, and as such have a rich engagement with both our school and local community. We participate in shared experiences with the school, attending school events, assemblies and classroom visits, as well as engaging regularly with the library and school canteen. Families continue to provide extensive feedback about the role of our service in supporting their children with a smooth transition to school, through established peer and educator relationships as well as familiarity with aspects of school life.
Cardiff South Public School Preschool provides a one year program for children the year before they commence school. Children are eligible for Preschool enrolment if they turn four on, or before 31st July in their year of enrolment and intend to commence school the following year. Our Preschool operates Monday to Friday during school terms from 9am to 3pm, and can cater for up to 20 children per day. Children attend our Preschool over a five day fortnight, with two groups of children attending over the week. Our group names ‘Kuwaluwain’ and ‘Muwani’ mean ‘koala’ and ‘kangaroo’ in local Awabakal language.
Our team of educators is well established, with both educators at Cardiff South Public School Preschool having extensive experience in the Early Childhood field. Our focus is to provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment which reflects and enriches the lives of children and families. Diversity is both celebrated and explored, and we work in genuine partnerships with families, striving to develop strong links between home and preschool. Families are welcome to spend time with their child during their day at Preschool, as well as planning regular opportunities for families to provide feedback and become involved at our Preschool in a variety of ways.

As we come together each day, we remember the traditional owners of this land, the Awabakal people. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and people here today. We will work together to understand their language, culture and the importance of country to the traditional owners. We acknowledge that the land of Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
