We also love celebrating the special people in our students’ lives with our much-loved Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Breakfasts — wonderful mornings filled with smiles, laughter and connection. From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

NAIDOC Week 2026
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
What a wonderful week of celebrating, learning and connecting at Cardiff South Public School!
Throughout the week, students, staff and the community participated in a range of meaningful experiences, including our Smoking Ceremony and Flag Raising, K–6 book and activity rotations, a whole-school assembly, fantastic performances, engaging cultural workshops with Roo and the team and our NAIDOC BBQ.
A huge thank you to the Kiwanis volunteers for helping with the BBQ, we appreciate your support.
Combined Schools ANZAC Commemorative Event 2026
Our Year 6 students attended the 70th Annual Newcastle & Hunter Combined Schools ANZAC Service.
The 2026 theme, “LEST WE FORGET – Carrying the Flame of Remembrance,” explored the many ways Australians honour Anzac Day - from public cenotaphs and war memorials to personal acts of remembrance.
Following the service, students made their way to the Cenotaph in Civic Park to lay red poppies, while student bagpipers joined the catafalque party of Air Force cadets.
With more than 3,000 students participating, this powerful event highlights the importance of storytelling and invites us all to pause and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy, thanks to those who have served.

Camp Elim - Stage 2 2025
Stage 2 students had an unforgettable experience at Camp Elim, where they embraced adventure, teamwork, and fun! During the day, students challenged themselves with exciting activities like archery, the adventure tower, the giant swing, and team-building games.
These experiences not only brought smiles but also helped build resilience and perseverance as students stepped out of their comfort zones and supported one another. As night fell, everyone came together for lively games with the teachers, creating lasting memories and strengthening friendships.
Camp Elim was more than just an adventure—it was a chance for our students to grow, connect, and enjoy every moment. The laughter, challenges, and new friendships made at camp will be remembered for years to come!

Thank you to the true superstars…. Our students! The smiles (and the energy backstage) said it all! They were fantastic!
And thank you to our Fairy Godmother Mrs Metcalf for joining in on all the fun and using her magic wand to transport us into our magical wonderland.
Thank you to Miss Murray and staff for organising an amazing show that was loved by everyone!

Stage 3 Bathurst Camp - 2025
Cardiff South Public School offered our Stage 3 students the opportunity of going on an overnight educational excursion to Bathurst this year. This excursion linked to the Stage 3 History units being studied in Terms 1 and 2. Day 1 was spent gold panning, experiencing colonial history, including damper making, colonial games, mud brick making and tent making. Students also develop important skills such as independence, resilience while spending time away from family, but surrounded by supportive friends and teachers.
Book Week 2025
Book Week is a fun filled annual event held in August. Every year our library hosts a Book Fair and bi-annually we hold a Book Week Parade. Both events are a wonderful celebration of reading, imagination, and creativity bringing the whole school community together. The book fair is our annual fundraising event for our library. The bi-annual book week parade offers students the opportunity came dressed as their favourite book characters, filling the school with colour, excitement, and a love of stories. From classic heroes to new literary favourites, every costume shows how much our students enjoy reading and bringing stories to life.
Our school library situated in the middle of our school is a fun and colourful space that encourages imagination, storytelling, and a lifelong passion for books, not only during book week but every week of school life.
